How Social Media Changes our Perspective
Social media changes the way we look at things, there’s no
way to deny it. This is also the case when it comes to designing things like
clothes, offices, homes, etc. According to an article on Forbes,
72% of Instagram users say they have made style-related purchases after seeing
the product on Instagram. It also states 72% of Pinterest users say Pinterest provoked
them to shop even if shopping wasn’t the intention.
Being “Instagram worthy” is something I think everyone who
has an Instagram strives for. Whether it be a home, office, lifestyle, etc. we
want things to be aesthetically pleasing to the eye and attractive to us but
also others. Going back to the social media marketing workbook, it appeals to
our desire to show off. We go off in search for items we think would look good
for our online profiles. Yes, they are pleasing to us as well but there is an underlying
feeling of showing off we wouldn’t admit to.
We see this often being used in business such as
restaurants. Restaurants use this technique to entice new customers, potential
business partners, food bloggers or critics. Using these creative to techniques
to create the attractiveness we desire. Businesses also use this approach to
draw in new customers to try out their product or service. If customers seem an
attractive page portraying their product or service, it draws in new potential
business and taps into our desire.
Social media has changed the way we view things. Our home,
office and wardrobe is no longer just for our viewing. Social media gives us
this chance to show off but it also gives us an idea of something new. Maybe we
have questions about how something will look, how arrangements will work in a
certain way, or certain styles will fit in our wardrobe, Instagram can make
these ideas come to life.
